Hello and welcome to my brand new blog. In this launch edition, I thought I’d share with you a little of my story and explain how Holiday Shacks began.
It all started three years ago with my own beloved holiday house on the Mornington Peninsula. It was my haven – the place where my family and I would unwind after our busy week in Melbourne and recharge for the week to come.
What I love most about the Mornington Peninsula is the contrast between the aquamarine shores of the golden front beaches, the rugged expanses of the surf coast, and the gentle rolling hills of the farmland and produce. The Mornington Peninsula is a true coast and country gem, the place to experience some of the best wineries, golf courses, pampering experiences, coastal walks and beaches Australia has to offer. And the beauty of this, it’s all so accessible. The Mornington Peninsula can be reached within an easy hour and a half’s drive from Melbourne’s CDB.
Naturally, I had a few trepidations. First and foremost, I wanted to know that my home would be lovingly cared for by my guests. I also wanted to ensure that it would be left spotless and ready for the next people to enjoy.
Then I wondered how I would promote my home for holiday rent and how potential guests might find it and book their stay. There were many real estate agents I could have listed it with, but I felt their service was too impersonal. This was my treasured holiday home we were talking about. When I travel one of the best experiences I find is personalised service…so that’s how I began – with the unique website I created just for my property. My friend liked it so much, she asked me if she could list her home…
And just like that, Holiday Shacks grew from a single listing to a fully managed company offering a range of exclusive homes, apartments and personalised services across the Mornington Peninsula from Mt Eliza to Portsea that are available for everyone to enjoy.
