Idyllic family summer hideaway, in peaceful bushland setting, close to beach in private relaxing grounds.
As you approach Hopetoun Avenue, winding your way gently over hill and down dale through the bush and up the unmade road to this idyllic hideaway, you’ll feel you’re a million miles from the city. In reality, you’re less than an hour’s drive from the heart of Melbourne and only a pleasant stroll from Mt Martha’s beautiful South Beach and stylish shopping village.
This delightful family residence is cleverly designed to make the most of the morning light, and remain cool and protected from the afternoon sun. Each of the living areas offers a tranquil floor-to-ceiling vista of the bushland that embraces the property.
Once you’ve arrived, the landscaped front garden and decked porch create a welcoming first impression. The polished floorboards and soaring ceiling of the entry lead the way to the heart of the home – the provincial-style dining space that’s designed to seat fourteen of your loved ones in comfort.
The open-plan kitchen with its wide stone benches offers every modern appliance you’d expect to find in a contemporary kitchen, making entertaining a breeze. There’s a stainless steel double fridge with an icemaker, a large Ilve oven, a microwave and a coffee machine that comes with a never-ending supply of coffee beans for barista in the family.
Why not enjoy your coffee outside on the generously-proportioned deck? Here you can relax with your favourite magazine while keeping any eye on the children in the garden down below at the same time. There’s plenty of space for them to run around, kick a ball, bounce on the in-ground trampoline, swing contentedly in the hammock and play together in the delightful cubby.
The deck is the also the perfect place to sit and enjoy the morning sun, or cook your dinner on the barbeque after a busy day at the beach. For a change of scenery, there are several other outdoor dining alternatives located on the shady southern side of the house, including a setting complete with a rustic chandelier in the kitchen garden.
Native birds are frequent visitors and there’s an enormous water tank to keep the vegetables lush. Don’t forget to help yourself to salad greens to accompany your dinner while you’re there, and maybe pick a fresh lemon to refresh your drink.
Back inside the home, you’ll find the living room a few steps down from the dining area. It boasts an open fireplace, super-comfortable seating, a huge widescreen TV, DVD player and Wii, and a stereo system that’s connected to discreet ceiling speakers throughout the house.
The residence’s enormous master bedroom features a magnificent view, a wall of built-in robes, and an exquisite bathroom with a luxurious walk-in shower, elegant tiling and heated towel rail. Next door, the second bedroom has two king single beds and plenty of storage.
In the southern wing, there are two more bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with a double futon, and a huge study that also has a pull-out double bed. The family bathroom has a large bath and a separate toilet.
Additional features of this delightful family getaway include evaporated cooling and hydronic heating, a double garage with internal access, internet access, and a practical laundry. The majestic 18-hole Mt Martha golf course with its breathtaking views of Port Phillip Bay is situated only metres away, and the property is close to two nature reserves.
